North Dakota Stockmen’s Association applauds reopening of China to U.S. beef
The North Dakota Stockmen’s Association (NDSA) applauded the Trump Administration’s announcement yesterday that an agreement has been made with China to restore U.S. beef market access. The agreement will connect American beef producers to a growing middle-class that is making the country home to not only one-fifth of the world’s population, but one of the world’s largest importers of beef.
“For 13 years, beef producers in the United States have looked forward to the opportunity to export our top-quality product to the growing economy of China,” said Warren Zenker, NDSA president. “The agreement struck yesterday is a monumental step forward that will open the door for the sale of commonly recognized beef cuts, like chucks and rounds, as well as other specialty cuts, to nearly 1.4 billion new customers. Beef producers in North Dakota and the nation are thankful to the Trump Administration for making restoration of U.S. beef market access in China a priority.”
This week’s announcement brings the United States one important step closer to exporting U.S. beef to China. Following one more round of technical consultations, U.S. beef will be granted access to China, beginning no later than July 16, 2017.
