All Breeds Cattle Tour showcases 11 seedstock producers

Eleven seedstock producers representing four breeds of cattle presented their herds during the North Dakota Stockmen’s Association’s (NDSA) 39th Annual All Breeds Cattle Tour Oct. 6-7. This year’s tour highlighted beef producers from south central North Dakota and welcomed more than 200 attendees from across the region.

“The breeders showcased tremendous pride in their programs,” said Tour Chairman Jonathan Marohl of Solen, N.D. “They welcomed attendees to their operations and shared the genetics, management practices and dedication that contribute to their success.”

The two-day tour kicked off with registration at the Comfort Inn & Suites in Mandan, N.D., before attendees traveled to five Morton County ranches. Stops included YellowTop Angus of Solen, N.D.; Schaff Angus Valley of St. Anthony, N.D.; Ellingson Angus of St. Anthony, N.D.; Keller’s Broken Heart Ranch of Huff, N.D.; and Tokach Angus Ranch of St. Anthony, N.D. The day concluded with a supper at the Verein Hall in St. Anthony, N.D.  NDSA Vice President Joe Schettler, a Killdeer, N.D., cow-calf producer, provided an update on association activities and current industry issues.

Day 2 began again at the Comfort Inn & Suites before the group departed for visits to 6 Mile Angus of Raleigh, N.D. in Grant County; Campbell Red Angus of McIntosh, S.D., located in rural Sioux County; Maher Angus Ranch of Morristown, S.D., located in rural Sioux County; Katus Ranch Angus Seedstock of Watauga, S.D., located in rural Grant County; Brenner Angus of Carson, N.D., located in rural Grant County; and Gumbo Hill Ranch of McIntosh, S.D., located in rural Sioux County. The tour concluded with a supper at the Gumbo Hill Ranch sale barn.

“This year’s tour was a great reflection of the quality of cattle and people we have here in North Dakota,” said Schettler. “The opportunity to visit these operations, exchange ideas and connect with fellow cattle producers is what makes this event so valuable year after year.”

The All Breeds Cattle Tour is a project of the NDSA Seedstock Council. Planning for the 40th annual tour will begin in Spring 2027. It will be held in the Bismarck and New Salem, N.D. areas.
