Christopher (Chris) Keith Johnson was born on May 20, 1977, in Northwood. He is the son of Keith and Becky (Funseth) Johnson and was raised on the Johnson Stock Farm. He was baptized and confirmed at Beaver Creek Church. Chris graduated from Northwood High School and East Grand Forks Technical College in farm management.
Farming was in Chris’s blood from the beginning. He started riding with his dad, grandpa and uncles when he was old enough to pack his own diaper bag. By age 8, Chris and his cousin Jason were haying and combining on their own, along with all the other men. In addition to raising crops, Chris milked dairy cows and raised and bred beef cattle, which was his passion. Chris farmed and ranched with his father Keith and brother Jeremy all his life. He spent many years working with his uncles Wayne and Chug, cousin Jason and Doug Morkve, who became an extended family member. He was extremely proud that his children and nieces and nephews are the sixth generation to be interested in the cattle.
Chris competed in many demolition derbies in his younger days and Johnson Stock Farm became a hub for building cars for others, resulting in many friendships, late nights and fun times.
He was a member of the NDSA. Chris was also active in his community and served on the Northwood Elevator Board, the Steele County Crop and Livestock Improvement Association and the Beaver Creek Church Council and was the Beaver Creek Township clerk.
Chris married Shannon Fiebiger in 2006 and was later united in marriage to Jennifer Bradshaw in 2015. He will be greatly missed by many, but especially his children, the greatest accomplishments of his life. Chris passed away June 16, 2023.
Chris is survived by his wife Jennifer; four children: Shaycee, Azlynn, Roegen and Georgiann; parents Keith and Becky Johnson; brother Jeremy Johnson and his children, Brynlee, Brevin, Brody and Brock; sister Laura (Joel) Foss and their children, Brett and Alicia; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents, Norris and Clara Johnson and Carlott and Arleen Funseth; special uncle Wayne Johnson; aunts Verna Stave and Patty Johnson; and uncle Curt Funseth.
